About

Tara Gildow is an artist based in Anchorage, Alaska. She is, despite being a slightly shy weirdo, adept at making the art and illustration. She graduated with a BFA from Pacific Northwest College of Art. After having a small crisis of identity and rejecting her past and future as an art-maker, including setting fire to her old portfolio and questioning her existence on the earth, she  finally made peace with the fact that making art is a need for her and not a frivolous impulse. If she does not make art, she becomes a horrible troll of a person, which is not a good look for anyone. In addition to making art, Tara is also busy raising her daughter, the future dragon princess of the Northern waste who is also interested in being an Orthodontist and/or ancient pyramid exploring herpetologist.

Tara Gildow is an artist based in Anchorage, Alaska. She is, despite being a slightly shy, unassuming weirdo, quite adept at making art and illustration. She graduated with a BFA in painting from Pacific Northwest College of Art. Tara has tried many times to be a completely responsible adult and fit into societal expectations, but is officially over all that nonsense, embracing her inner imaginative weirdo and choosing to produce art that entertains her and that provides enjoyment to patrons. She has been the Fur Rendezvous pin designer for 3 years, 2014, 2016, and 2017. She has had numerous local painting shows in Anchorage, AK and in Portland, OR. Some of her favorite projects have been book illustrations, including the young adult novel Rise of the First City by Aaron Duran and her own coloring book,  Alphabetanimals. In addition to making art, Tara is also busy raising her daughter, the future dragon princess of the Northern waste who is also interested in being an Orthodontist and/or ancient pyramid exploring herpetologist.
